2009 is not the year of "Linux on the Desktop", nor will any other year be. Why? Because of idiot Linux zealots who just don't get it. I've written about this before. For the latest example, some girl bought a laptop with Ubuntu by accident and couldn't figure out how to use it. What was the Linux community reaction? Flame her, of course! In the software business, we make it a practice to not insult our customers in public, especially when we're trying to get them to use our products. The editor responded to the raging idiots.

Zune Fanboi debunked
A much more serious debunking: various 9/11 conspiracy MYTHS
To think that the people who buy into "Loose Change" call the rest of the general public "gullible" and "brain-washed" when they're the ones buying into conspiracy theories perpetrated by owners of fake companies and completely ignore any basic fact-checking.
A Cost Analysis of Vista Content Protection(mirror)
The story of Windows Vista "content protection" as told by Peter Gutmann. This is the real reason why Microsoft wants you to "upgrade" to Vista and it has no benefit to you, the only benefit is to Microsoft and their unrelenting quest for monopoly powers. I'm referring to this as "All Your Content Are Belong to Microsoft".
Why Vista Needs to Fail
My own rant on Vista. I would delete it, but it took a long time to write *shrug*.
Verizon Can't Count
A thoroughly entertaining recording of not one, but two Verizon Customer Service Managers insisting that $0.002 is exactly the same as $0.00002!
Use IE -> go to jail
Apparently the State of Connecticut thinks a substitute teacher intentionally tried to show porn to middle school students. Despite testimony from an expert witness that the porn was displayed by pop-ups that were a result of going to a non-porn site, a jury (of ... well apparently not computer-users) convicted her on four counts. To me, the message is clear: If you use vulnerable software, you could go to jail. It's just one more reason to migrate away from Microsoft software.
